We are busy, too busy for fulfilling even our needs. What has gotten so important for us today is our false pride and our struggles of life? A day isn't enough for most of us to complete our official actions, then how can it be invested upsetting for someone, if that somebody is dependent on us for the basic or psychological needs or if they are unproductive?
But allow me to remind you, dear fellows, a true measure of a caring society is how it values and protects its senior citizens. Should I tell you that there should not be any excuses to discard them out of our own life for whatever reasons? Our older are not bundles of burden. Shhhh... Did I say old age homes, I think that they are believed to be prisons for their senior citizens?

I concur that unfortunate are those moms, those fathers who have to satisfy such a fate as to spend their rest of life begging in the streets, none to provide food, clothes, or shield. And here the best option is old age home. It is a blessing for those senior citizens who are:

1. Failed, Dumped, Abused
2. Whose children are abroad or outside their town
3. Lack family support because of a reason
4. Widows and widowers
5. With no children or anyone to care for
6. Cannot carry on with daily chores like cooking, washing, etc

They are a boon also because old age homes call for adjustments and learning from other offenders. But while living in an old age home, one has to adjust oneself to the rules and regulations of such homes such as specific meal timings, food customs, servants, behavior, attitude, etc. I know that a man living in a household will certainly find it difficult, however, a man that has lived in a boarding school or hostel may find it much easier to adapt to the new surroundings of an old age home.
The only thing is that people who say that old age homes are bane must rethink. Some unwed moms throw their newly born infants in dustbins. Some parents ditch their female infants. I think that it's our responsibility to give regular life to those babies. Come on. 
Force those moms who abandon their kids in orphanages and closed down most of the orphanages. Shut down all of the juvenile care centers No? You state that these are the requirement of society. So I say that old age homes also need of society. I realize that I'm also walking to the destination of death and will shortly pass through the same stage, the dreaded old age, and will soon require the home.
And now we have to work hard to accomplish a great old age center. And we can build a caring old age home if people:

1. Foster the integration of elderly persons with the local community.
2. Engage older persons in sporting activities.
3. Alter the role of older persons in society by using their knowledge.
4. Make them capable and never let them face financial issues

Ideally, I would like families to take care of their elderly parents. But I feel that one should not expect kids to care for him when he grows old. Senior citizens must protect themselves financially, should look after their own health, and should be able to live alone. 
Expecting love, affection, attention, hormonal relationships with sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, or living together with kids has become impractical nowadays. How many older will be content or happy to live with such a household who is only for catching the facilities and money government pension is supplying? We should not shy away from staying or adjusting at old age homes in the company of other inmates.
Certainly, when our conventional mindset about the older age homes changes, there's absolutely no harm in it. We can observe that Westerners have significantly applied this thought and as a result, they have succeeded to provide care to the older. However, for a country like India, it may be doubtful to afford it.
 In that condition, we can create small societies in our neighborhood level which will permit the elderly to enjoy their leisure time with their friends and must contribute towards the home by cash, kind, or services. It's not that old age homes ought to be encouraged but you cannot control people who throw their parents and we could at least can assist these old people. So think carefully before you discount the notion of such homes - they provide hope to those who would otherwise don't have any hope at all.
It's my firm belief that by working together, we can ensure that older individuals have improved, improving, and fulfilling lives.
